Richmond young gun midfielder Brandon Ellis has scored a perfect 10 in the Round 2 voting for the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award.

Ellis was awarded 10 out of 10 by respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Mick Malthouse (Carlton).

The 20-year-old, in his 44th game of league football, was assigned a run-with role on talented Blues midfielder Bryce Gibbs, and he rose to the challenge in first-class fashion.

He restricted Gibbs to just 12 disposals and picked up 18 himself, including two terrific, team-lifting goals.

The other Richmond players to poll coaches votes in Round 2 were Ricky Petterd (six), Matt Thomas (two) and Trent Cotchin (one).
