Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has moved into fifth place in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award, following a perfect score in the Round 5 voting.

Cotchin received 10 out of 10 for his superb display in Richmond’s 43-point victory over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba last Thursday night.

The star midfielder had 32 disposals, including an equal team-high seven clearances, five inside-50s and four rebound-50s.

He now has 23 votes in the prestigious award that he won back in 2012, which is 11 behind the leader, Geelong captain Joel Selwood.

Versatile Tiger Ricky Petterd was rewarded for his fine efforts against the Lions with seven votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Justin Leppitsch (Brisbane), while key forward Jack Riewoldt picked up five votes and Dustin Martin collected three votes.
