Richmond has taken the big scalp of Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, making it three wins in a row.

The Tigers ran out 20 point winners in an entertaining end-to-end game, which saw the sides pile on 35 goals in total.

The Power continued to challenge the Tigers all afternoon, but  Richmond had all the answers in the midfield with an excellent all-round performance from the side.

Richmond finished 34 more contested possessions, and their pressure around the ground was the direct result of many of the goals.

Sam Lloyd returned to the side after great VFL form, and kicked three goals, as well as creating a few more opportunities at the feet of the tall forwards.

Alex Rance was again the rock down back, keeping Jay Schulz to very few easy opportunities close to goal.

Troy Chaplin started in defence on Justin Westhoff, keeping denying him a scoring shot in the first half. Westhoff was swung into defence in the second half, and Chaplin followed him, proving a handful and kicking two crucial goals in the final term, including a brilliant snap off his non-preferred right boot.

Dustin Martin continued his brilliant season, winning the ball 25 times, but his crucial one-on-one wins opened up the play for the Tigers all afternoon. He managed to dish off four goal assists and kick an exciting running goal in the second term.

Brett Deledio’s decision-making and ball use was superb all day, in the midfield and across half-forward. He delivered the ball inside 50 ten times, to go with 26 disposals and a brilliant goal from outside 50 on a tight angle in the first term.

Jack Riewoldt recorded a career-high disposal tally in his milestone game, with 22 touches, also he kicked three goals, including a crucial goal late, and delivered two goal assists.

Brandon Ellis (29 disposals), Trent Cotchin (26 disposals, eight clearances) and Anthony Miles (28 disposals, eight clearances) all continued their consistent seasons.
They were assisted by an excellent game by Ivan Maric, who recorded 40 hit-outs in an aggressive battle with Matthew Lobbe.

The Tigers will have a week’s rest before they take on West Coast at Paterson’s Stadium in Round 18.
