Rising Richmond star Brandon Ellis has been named in the AFL’s 22Under22 team for the second year in-a-row.

The line-up was announced at the annual AFL Players Association’s awards function last night (Tuesday).

22Under22 is a concept, launched in 2013, that recognises the best 22 players in the competition under 22 years of age.

The AFLPA called on all football fans to help decide the make-up of the 2014 team, by selecting their best 22Under22 via the AFL Players’ Facebook page last month.  After thousands of votes were cast, the definitive 22Under22 team was decided.

Ellis is one of nine players who was selected in 2013’s inaugural 22Under22 side.

The 21-year-old Tiger took his game to another level in his third season of league football in 2014.

He averaged 26.1 disposals per game, with a season-high 36 against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium in Round 15, and didn’t dip below 20 touches in any match after Round 3.

Ellis was ranked third in the competition for total uncontested possessions (421), fifth for total kicks (355), fifth for rebound-50s (94) and sixth for total disposals (601).

He generated significant drive throughout the season for the Tigers with his ball-getting ability and relentless running.
