Former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard will be the next guest speaker at the final Richmond in Business event for 2014.

Gillard will provide insights into her experiences, challenges and successes in serving as Australia’s 27th and first female Prime Minister, at the Richmond in Business lunch on Friday, November 14, at the Carousel in Albert Park.

Gillard served as Prime Minister of Australia for three years from 2010-2013, previous to which she was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and Social Inclusion.

After departing politics in 2013, Gillard was appointed a non-resident Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington. She chairs the Global Partnership for Education, which aims to get the world’s poorest children into school, and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Adelaide.

In her new book, My Story, Ms Gillard details her successes as Prime Minister and discusses the issues and causes she championed, and continues to advocate. She also candidly discusses mistakes and failures at key points in her leadership.

Richmond in Business is a program for people to network, connect and engage with like-minded business professionals. The upcoming lunch is the final of three lunches this year with previous guest speakers including former AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou and Australia Post CEO Ahmed Fahour.
