Richmond made it four wins on-the-trot when it overpowered West Coast by 17 points in a wet-weather slog at Patersons Stadium in Round 18.

The Tigers led at every change and answered every challenge the Eagles threw at them throughout the match.

Midfielders Dustin Martin, Brett Deledio, Brandon Ellis, Nathan Foley and Anthony Miles led the way for the visitors with their outstanding work in the heavy conditions.

They had more than 120 disposals between them, and ensured Richmond decisively won the crucial contested-ball battle.

Martin also kicked two vital goals in the low-scoring scrap, while skipper Trent Cotchin conjured a miraculous soccer goal from a tight angle straight after the half-time break, which effectively sank the Eagles’ hopes.

WHAT THE COACH SAID:

“To play against a quality opponent, get the result and especially play the want we wanted to, was really important.  It’s a good confidence builder for our blokes, but we’ve certainly got to continue to play well.  We’ve been really disappointing this year.  Our supporters have trudged out week in, week out, and we haven’t quite got the result we’re after.  We have to continue to play good footy and get some wins on the board.”
