While Richmond’s win on the weekend was a promising indicator of the side’s depth, midfielder Anthony Miles says the teams’ focus is still on the quest for consistency.
The Tigers backed up their opening round win over Carlton with a disappointing performance against the Western Bulldogs, before their 79-point victory over Brisbane last Saturday.
“On the weekend, I thought we were really good for four quarters. It’s just about applying that consistency and trying to find consistency now. That’s something for us to focus on now is just to play some really consistent footy,” he said.

Miles pointed to the injury riddled forward line as a key area were the Tigers have developed a strong level of depth, especially with the loss of vice-captain Brett Deledio for the second consecutive match.
“He (Deledio) had a setback last week, which obviously ruled him out of the Brisbane game, so I’m not sure how he’s progressing. I know he’s keen to get back and we’re keen to have him back,” Miles said.
“We’ve come a long way in terms of our depth, and we’ve had players being able to step in and play a role for us.
“You’ve seen Sam Lloyd and Nathan Gordon play that forward role really well this year, and unfortunately Kane Lambert went down as well, who played that half-forward role, and Knights as well.

“Our depth was tested on the weekend - I think we stood up really well. Shane Edwards as well…good to have him back.
“I think we can fill that void now, and as much as Lids is a fantastic player for us, I like to think we can play well without him.”
Looking ahead to Friday night’s game against Melbourne, Miles said the Anzac Day eve clash will hold special meaning for the players.
“It’s going to be a big occasion,” he said.
“It’s Anzac Day eve, and we’re paying our respects to men and women who have served for the country.
“It’s going to be a great occasion and one we are thoroughly looking forward to, and I know Melbourne are as well.
“Those first couple of minutes are always pretty hectic on any day, but I think it will have a bit of special meaning to it this week.”
