Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has detailed the importance to the team’s structure of talented, tall forward trio Jack Riewoldt, Ty Vickery and Ben Griffiths.

Riewoldt took nine marks and kicked six goals in a dynamic match-winning display against Sydney at the SCG last Friday night, Vickery produced a top-class second half, finishing with eight marks, plus a goal, and Griffiths also was a valuable contributor.

“The biggest thing for our three keys is that they’re all competing,” Cotchin told the ABC.

“If one of them was letting us down, then we feel it has a real impact on the group.

“So, that’s the main focus for our big boys going into games . . . just create those contests.

“Some days they’re going to clunk them, sometimes they’re not, but we just don’t want them being outmarked . . .

“They’ve been fantastic, particularly in the wins that we’ve played really well in.  They’ve been a big part of that.”

Riewoldt has kicked 34 goals in 12 games this season, Griffiths has 12 goals from 10 games, and Vickery has 10 goals from six games.
