Richmond's support of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation continues to strengthen, after signing their 1000th member to the Club's dedicated Alannah and Madeline Foundation membership.

Launched in 2014, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation membership has been embraced by Richmond fans, with the proceeds of the 1000 memberships donated to the national charity, to support their work in keeping children safe from violence.

The $30,000 raised through the unique membership will ensure almost 5000 children benefit from the Foundation's Better Buddies or eSmart programs.

Almost one million Australian children live with violence in their home, and funds raised will help The Foundation carry out its national school and community programs as it strives to reduce bullying and violence to children.

The membership, with options for adults, juniors and families, included access to Richmond's annual match dedicated to The Alannah and Madeline Foundation (Round 12 v West Coast at the MCG this year), which launched the Foundation's Light Switch campaign.

In 2014, through various fundraising initiatives with fans and the community, Richmond raised $80,000 for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, which was announced at the charity's annual gala ball, Starry Starry Night.

"The support from our members and fans for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the work they do is amazing - the membership builds both a genuine and tangible connection between the Club, the Foundation and our supporters," said Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale.

"We look forward to continuing our work with the Foundation to find new ways to support them, and help their important work in keeping Australian children and communities safe from violence."

Dr Judith Slocombe, CEO of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, said the initiative highlighted the club's wonderful commitment to The Foundation and to the safety of children across Australia. Dr Slocombe said the membership program also exemplified the positive example sporting clubs, such as Richmond, provided to thousands of young fans.

"Without partners like the Richmond Football Club, The Foundation would not be able to run the essential programs it delivers every day,'' Dr Slocombe said. "We thank Richmond and the club's members for their on-going generosity and support."
