Talented tall forward Ty Vickery continued his impressive progress this season with another valuable contribution for Richmond in last Saturday night’s victory over Essendon at the MCG.

Although the wet conditions were far from ideal for big forwards, Vickery still managed to have an impact, kicking two goals, giving off another one, and providing a strong target throughout in the Tigers’ attack.

It was the 100th game for Vickery, who is in his seventh season of league football with Richmond after being selected by the Club at pick eight overall in the 2008 National Draft.

“Every year you play you get a bit more confident in your body and what you can do out there,” Vickery told Channel Seven post-game.

“I try and just play my role for the team.

“Some weeks the goals will come, some weeks they won’t – they’ll come for Jack.

“I’m just looking to make a strong contest week in, week out.”

Vickery has kicked 12 goals straight in the past three games and his overall tally for the season is an extremely accurate 26.7.

He provided an insight into how he hones his sharpshooting skills.

“We’ve got (Mark) ‘Choco’ Williams at training, who seems to make more noise than an actual MCG crowd,” Vickery said.

“We try and practise under pressure and with confidence. Get your routine down pat and go from there, and it comes game day.”
