Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt is in the middle of an off-season break from football, but is already itching to return to the Club to prepare for the 2016 season.

The six-time Michael Roach Medallist is one of several Tigers who have visited the ME Centre during their break to maintain their fitness levels ahead of the start of the pre-season in November.

“I actually haven’t enjoyed being away from the Club.  I’ve actually missed it a lot,” Riewoldt told media at a media event to announce that Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision had raised $750,000 to fight bone marrow failure syndromes.

“I was in there training this morning, which was good fun.  I’m looking forward to seeing the guys again.

“I’m really excited to improve.  Hopefully that can improve the side, and we can come out and put in a better performance than last season.

Riewoldt will undergo minor shoulder surgery on Thursday, which isn't expected to impact on his pre-season.

He has been scheduled for a joint clean-out, but should be able to resume running in a matter of weeks.

It does mean the All Australian won't be available for next month's International Rules Test in Ireland.

Riewoldt toured with the Australian team in 2010 and was hopeful of lining up alongside cousin Nick this year, for the first time.

“It’s unfortunate because I was looking forward to playing with Nick,” he said.

“Hopefully next year we can both sneak into the side and play a game of footy together.

“It would mean a lot to our families and it would be very, very special for MRV (Maddie Riewoldt's Vision) as well so hopefully next year we can do that one.”
