The Richmond Football Club’s commitment to The Alannah and Madeleine Foundation has strengthened further, with Club raising $60,000 for the Foundation in 2015.

Proceeds were directed towards sponsoring schools with the Better Buddies and eSmart programs.

Richmond currently sponsors 25 schools with the Better Buddies program, and in 2016, will take on 10 new schools, plus introduce the eSmart program to an additional five schools.

Richmond has reached over 8500 children through the Better Buddies Program, which is designed to create friendly and caring primary school communities where bullying is reduced.

Last month, Tiger players Jack Riewoldt, Steve Morris and Todd Elton put on a show at The Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s major fundraising event, Starry Starry Night.

The event raised $700,000 for the Foundation, with proceeds directly supporting children who have experienced or witnessed violence.

And, throughout the year, 1287 Richmond fans purchased Alannah and Madeline Foundation memberships.

The Alannah and Madeleine Foundation was set up in memory of Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three, who were tragically killed with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur, Tasmania, in 1996.

The Foundation’s vision is that every child will live in a safe and supportive environment, free from violence and bullying.

The Foundation’s programs include: Better Buddies, eSmart, Buddy Bags, Children Ahead, Refuge Therapeutic Support Program and the National Centre Against Bullying.
