We continue our special series at richmondfc.com.au, where we ask Tiger fans to select the best player to have worn each of the most significant guernsey numbers in the Club’s history.  To assist in your quest, we have profiled those players who have racked up a minimum of 50 games in the number.  The game totals and years listed relate to those played while wearing the specific number, not total Richmond career numbers.  Today, it’s the turn of No. 38.

No. 38

Kevin Morris – 110 games, 1971-1976

A valuable, consistent utility player in the powerful Richmond sides of the early-mid 1970s.  Had a significant impact in a variety of roles for the Tigers, including ruck-rover, half-forward, half-back, centre, and even full-forward at one stage.   Was a tough, strong, determined, straight-ahead style of player, but he mixed those physical attributes with a high skill level, coupled with a clever football brain.  Thrived on big-occasion matches and was an important member of Richmond’s back-to-back premiership sides of 1973-74.  Won the Jack Dyer Medal in 1975.

Steven Morris – 78 games, 2012-2015

The son of Kevin Morris is a hard-nosed small defender, who spent time as a small forward in the Tigers’ line-up last season.  Gives it his very best shot every time he pulls on the famous Yellow and Black guernsey.  Played the entire 2014 season with a severe shoulder injury that required reconstructive surgery, which further underlined the toughness and courage he possesses.

Peter Morris – 55 games, 1955-1958

Talented midfielder/half-forward recruited from VFA club Dandenong.  Had plenty of pace, good goal sense and was a fine team man.  Finished third in the Tigers’ Best and Fairest award in 1959.
