Tenacious Tiger midfielder Anthony Miles has added another valuable string to his football bow since returning to senior league ranks after a brief stint in the VFL early this season.

Miles, who was omitted from the Richmond line-up following the team’s Round 3 loss to Adelaide at Etihad Stadium, has kicked six goals in his five games back at AFL level, including two in last Saturday night’s win against Fremantle at Domain Stadium.

Given that Miles had scored only 14 goals in his previous 49 AFL appearances, this is a significant turnaround.

In his four years of league football before 2016, Miles’ highest goal return in a season had been seven.  Nine rounds into this season, he already has seven goals on the board.

And, Miles continues to rack up big disposal numbers as well.

Since regaining his place in the Tigers’ senior side, Miles is averaging nearly 25 disposals and 13 contested possessions per match.

“When he’s at his best, he just knows where the ball’s going to go, he’s clean in any conditions, and he just does all the right things,” Richmond ruckman Shaun Hampson said on ‘ABC Grandstand’.

“It’s great to see him playing some consistent footy now.”
