Richmond's VFL side is likely to be strengthened by the additions of veteran defender Troy Chaplin and young utility Connor Menadue for this Sunday’s Round 9 clash against Coburg.

Chaplin and Menadue flew to Tasmania as emergencies for the Tigers AFL hit-out with North Melbourne on Friday night but have been named in the Club's VFL squad.

The VFL Tigers travel to the Lions' Piranha Park as they set out to bounce back from a 23-point loss to Essendon last weekend.

Chaplin and Menadue, who are two of 16 AFL-listed players named in the squad, join Richmond’s VFL captain Sam Darley as likely key inclusions for the Round 9 match.

Darley travelled to Adelaide Oval to line up for the VFL State side in its hit-out with the SANFL West End State team last weekend.

Youngster Nathan Drummond made his long-awaited return from a season-ending knee injury last week and will benefit from more game time against Coburg this Sunday.

Kelvin Williams, 23, will make his debut in yellow and black this weekend, following impressive form at training.

The VFL Tigers sit 11th on the ladder following two wins and five losses, while the Lions are ranked 14th with one win to their name.

Sunday's game at Piranha Park kicks off at 11:40am.
The game will be broadcast live on Channel 7 from 11:30am.
Piranha Park is located at the corner of Harding and Russell Streets, Coburg.
