Dynamic Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin’s brilliant ‘ball-magnet’ display against Essendon at the MCG last Saturday has catapulted him into a select group of players in Tigerland history.

Martin became just the 10th Richmond player, since official league football match statistics were first recorded in 1965, to finish with 40 disposals or more in a game.

He racked up a career-high 43 touches in the Round 17 clash with the Bombers, which is the fourth highest disposal tally by a Tiger throughout the past 51 years.

The 35 kicks Martin had last Saturday also were the most a Richmond player since Kevin Bartlett’s 38 against Geelong, late in the 1974 season.

Only Bartlett, Joel Bowden and Robert Wiley have managed to find more of the ball during a match over the past five decades than Martin.
