Dynamic Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin has consolidated his third placing in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for 2016 with another strong vote-getting performance last round.

Martin was the sole Tiger to poll votes in the team’s 70-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday.

He received five votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Alastair Clarkson (Hawthorn) for his game-high 39-disposal display, which included a game-high 18 contested possessions, game-high 10 clearances, game-high six centre clearances, game-high eight inside-50s and an impressive, team-high 624 metres gained.

With just five home-and-away rounds to go, Martin has a total of 79 votes in the prestigious coaches’ award, just one behind Adelaide’s Rory Sloane, who has slipped to second place, and six away from new leader, Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield.
