Richmond’s VFL side will kick off its 2017 campaign in front of a home crowd at Punt Road Oval.

Following today’s fixture announcement, the VFL Tigers will host North Ballarat on Sunday, April 16 in the first of seven home games at the Club’s headquarters.

The Round 1 clash will be first of two Sunday midday matches at Punt Road Oval, to coincide with the AFL team playing interstate.

In a first for the Club, it will play two VFL home games at Beaconsfield’s Holm Park Recreation Reserve in 2017.

Richmond drove the initiative to continue to engage its strong and loyal following in the south-east corridor of Victoria.

The VFL Tigers will play their Round 7 match against Werribee on Saturday, June 3 at the Beaconsfield ground.

The side returns to Cardinia Shire in Round 12, when it hosts Casey on Saturday, July 18.

For a fourth consecutive year, Craig McRae’s group will again battle Essendon for the Sir Doug Nicholls Cup.

Sides will go head to head over the State Game weekend on Saturday, May 27, to coincide with the annual AFL Dreamtime at the ‘G clash.

McRae’s side will meet reigning premier Footscray in Round 4 at Etihad Stadium.

The match will be played as a curtain-raiser to Richmond’s Saturday night clash against the Western Bulldogs.

Next year’s fixture also includes three curtain-raisers at Punt Road Oval and a one curtain-closer, following the Tigers Round 13 AFL match.

The VFL Tigers will also look to align their final match of the home and away season with the floating AFL Round 23 fixture.

The VFL Tigers will play Essendon, Werribee, Geelong, Sandringham and North Ballarat twice.
