Round 17: Dusty tangles with Robertson Dustin Martin and Nick Robertson get up close and personal during the third term.

Richmond star Dustin Martin has been charged by the AFL’s Match Review Panel over two separate incidents during Sunday’s win over Brisbane.

The first charge stemmed from engaging in rough conduct with Lion Lewis Taylor and Martin can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

The heftier penalty came from a charge of making unreasonable and unnecessary contact with an open hand to the face of Brisbane's Nick Robertson during the third quarter of Sunday’s match.

For the second classifiable offence, Martin can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea, and will be free to face GWS at the MCG on Sunday.

In other news out of the game, Robertson was charged over headbutting Richmond captain Trent Cotchin and kneeing Martin and faces a week on the sidelines and a $1500 fine for the respective incidents.

Incidents assessed:

Dustin Martin, Richmond, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Lewis Taylor, Brisbane Lions, during the first quarter of the Round 17 match between Richmond and the Brisbane Lions, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday July 16, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Nick Robertson, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with headbutting Trent Cotchin, Richmond, during the third quarter of the Round 17 match between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond, played at Etihad Stadium on SundayJuly 16, 2017. 

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.
