Richmond’s preliminary final next Friday night will be the 13th in its league football history.

The Tigers have won seven and lost five of the 12 preliminary finals they’ve contested so far.

Their first preliminary final in the then VFL competition was in 1919, when they defeated Collingwood by 29 points – 10.14 (74) to 6.9 (45).

And, of course, Richmond’s most recent preliminary final was last year – a 36-point victory over Greater Western Sydney at the MCG.

That winning margin is the best by the Tigers in a preliminary final.
