Key 2019 Tiger anniversaries, milestones

Jack Riewoldt and Alex Rance will each celebrate significant milestones in 2019

As we tick over into 2019, here’s a list of the key anniversaries and milestones at Tigerland this year. . .

Anniversaries

• 100 years since Richmond’s first Grand Final in the VFL competition, losing to Collingwood by 25 points.

• 100 years since gun ruckman Barney Herbert made it back-to-back Best an Fairests at Tigerland.

• 90 years since champion spearhead Jack Titus won the Tigers’ leading goalkicker award in a season for the first time (54 goals in 1929).

• 70 years since Tiger ‘Immortal’ Jack Dyer played his last game of league football.

• 60 years since Matthew Richardson’s father Alan ‘Bull’ Richardson made his senior debut with Richmond in Round 1, 1959 v Melbourne at Punt Road.

• 50 years since the Tigers won the 1969 premiership, defeating Carlton in the Grand Final by 25 points.

• 50 years since Rex Hunt won Richmond’s leading goalkicker award with 55 goals in the 1969 season.

• 40 years since Michael Roach took the Tigers’ Mark of the Century in Round 5, 1979 v Hawthorn at the MCG.

• 40 years since Michael Roach won Richmond’s leading goakicker award for the first time with 90 goals in the 1979 season,

• 40 years since Barry Rowlings crossed over from Hawthorn and won the Jack Dyer Medal in his debut season with the Tigers.

• 20 years since Wayne Campbell won his third Jack Dyer Medal.

• 10 years since Alex Rance made his senior debut for Richmond in Round 2, 2009 v Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

• 10 years since Matthew Richardson played his last game with the Tigers.

• 10 years since Brendon Gale took over as the Club’s CEO.

• 10 years since Damien Hardwick was appointed Richmond’s senior coach.
