Richmond defender Andrew Raines has been traded to the Brisbane Lions on day one of the AFL Exchange Period.
The 23-year-old was traded in exchange for Brisbane’s third round selection (pick 44) in the 2009 National Draft.
The Tigers now have four selections in the first three rounds in the draft (picks 3, 19, 35 and 44), which will be held on Thursday, November 26.
Raines played 56 games for the Tigers after making his debut in 2004. He finished second in the Club’s Jack Dyer Medal count in 2006, was runner-up in the AFL’s NAB Rising Star Award the same year, and also represented Australia in the ’06 International Rules series against Ireland.
His father, Geoff, played 134 games for the Tigers from 1976-82, won three Best and Fairest awards, and was a member of the 1980 premiership team.
