In his first season out of the TAC Cup in 2009, the rookie ruckman was thrown into the deep end, making his debut in front of 87,000 fans against Carlton in round one after promising pre-season form. While this proved a big ask, Browne’s subsequent form at VFL level was encouraging, particularly his mobility, competitiveness and ability to read the play. Viewed as a long-term prospect, the big man was elevated to the senior list in the off-season.
