The Tigers’ best running player produced another season of high quality, receiving his first nomination for the 40-man All-Australian squad. In a new role as a rebounding half-back, he averaged a career-best 25.3 disposals a game, with his worst effort being a respectable tally of 18.

Led the Tigers in disposals, kicks, inside 50s, rebounds (fifth in the AFL) and uncontested possessions and finished third in the best and fairest. A more permanent return to the midfield appears inevitable for the emerging leader.

Player honours: best and fairest 2008, 2009; 3rd best and fairest 2010; All-Australian nominee 2008, 2010; NAB AFL Rising Star 2005; International Rules Series 2005.
Brownlow Medal: 2010 votes 7; career votes 27.
Draft history: 2004 NAB AFL Draft priority selection (Richmond) No. 1 overall.
