After not having a player reach the AFL’s coveted 300-game milestone for three decades, Richmond could well make it two in successive seasons next year.

Jack Riewoldt became the first Tiger since Francis Bourke in 1981 to crack the triple ton, producing a superb, six-goal match-winning, 300th-game display against Brisbane at Metricon Stadium in Round 18 of the 2021 season.

Heading into 2022, Riewoldt’s long-time teammate at Tigerland, Shane Edwards, is on 281 games.

Edwards, who turned 33 a few days ago, is going to require a reasonable run with injury to get those additional 19 games next season.

Apart from this year, however, where he struggled with an ankle injury and missed several games, Edwards has been decidedly durable.

So, there seems a good chance that by the end of the 2022 season, Edwards will have joined Riewoldt, Bourke, Jack Dyer and Kevin Bartlett as a member of Punt Road’s prestigious 300-game club.
