After letting her" hard work do the talking" throughout her four years in Richmond's VFLW and AFLW programs, Bec Miller is relishing the opportunity to lead the Tigers for the upcoming season.

The quiet achiever, who was recognised on-field last season with a place in the All Australian squad of 40, was last week announced in Richmond's leadership group for Season 7.

"It's really special when your peers vote you in, so to have the group vote me in as a leader, I feel very fortunate and privileged," Miller said.

"Looking back at the past four years or so, I wanted to work hard and establish myself.

"Now, I've transitioned into knowing when to lead but also when to follow, so I think that's the biggest change."

The key defender will be well supported by Katie Brennan, Richmond's skipper for the fourth consecutive season, and vice-captain Sarah Hosking.

"(Brennan) is the best skipper I've ever had... She's just a fierce leader," Miller said.

"Everyone sees her on the field, but what she brings off the field to this group, she empowers each individual.

"Sarah Hosking also leads by actions as well, she gets in and gets dirty and gets it done.

"They're both different styles but both equally effective."

Joining Miller as first-time members of the Tigers' leadership group are Monique Conti and Gabby Seymour.

"Having a hunger to improve epitomises Gabby Seymour, every day she wants to get better as a footballer and as a person, she lives it day in and day out," she said.

"I'm really proud of Mon as well, obviously she's a superstar on the field but how she's started to bring others along journey is really admirable as well."

After "adding the layers year-on-year", 27-year-old Miller said the Tigers were ready and raring for the season ahead.

"Being able to keep the core group together was super important especially with the expansion teams coming in," she said.

"Time takes time, we're getting those connections and growing them which is really important."
