Richmond forward Aaron Edwards helped out at a cultural diversity program in the Cardinia Shire today with 150 school students participating, as part of Richmond’s new community development partnership with Parklea and the Cardinia Shire Council.

The program by Windemere called Building Harmony, promotes interaction and cultural harmony between young people to build strong, connected and more accepting communities.

Held at Cardinia Life recreation centre in Pakenham, Edwards took the students from five different schools through their paces speaking to them about life as an AFL footballer and the importance of cultural awareness and multicultural acceptance in the community.

“As a football club, we embrace cultural diversity, Richmond has the most multicultural players of any team in the AFL, which is something we celebrate,” Edwards said.

Edwards, who is of Samoan and New Zealand decent is one of 12 of Richmond’s multicultural players.

Parklea is a new partner of the Richmond Football Club and Windermere were given the opportunity to run the workshop through their long time association with Parklea.

“As a long term supporter of Windermere we are pleased these relationships can integrate to help so many people in the community,” said Parklea Chairman, Andrew Facey.
