Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has won this year’s Ian Stewart Medal. 

Another dominant performance by the dynamic midfielder, in the Tigers’ decisive final home-and-away round victory over St Kilda at the MCG – 36 disposals, 14 contested possessions, seven inside-50s and two inspirational goals – earned him the maximum three votes from all four judges.

Martin (12 votes) outpolled teammates Trent Cotchin (six), Jacob Townsend (three), Shaun Grigg (two) and Bachar Houli (one).

The Ian Stewart Medal is a tribute to the only player in league football history to win a Brownlow Medal and premiership at two clubs.

It’s the first time Martin has taken out this prestigious individual award.
