Richmond welcomes the 2019 Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) class to Tigerland.

22 Indigenous students from rural and remote communities around Australia made the journey down to Melbourne this week for what will be the school’s fourth intake since its opening in 2016.

The group will live at the MITS boarding campus in Richmond and attend school at the Korin Gamadji Institute, inside the Richmond Football Club.

Students will be accompanied by their families for the next few days as they go through orientation and settle into their new environment before beginning term one.

MITS provides a warm home-style environment that celebrates culture and understands the challenges of transitioning from remote communities to cities for secondary education.

After spending a year in the MITS program, students will continue their studies at MITS' partner colleges around Melbourne and Victoria.

Richmond staff and players look forward to spending time with the MITS class throughout the year!
