STAR Richmond backman Bachar Houli is free to play in the Grand Final after being cleared for his forearm on Geelong forward Gryan Miers.

During the third term of Friday night's preliminary final, Houli was running in Miers' direction as he looked to offer an option through the middle of the ground.

Miers, who was standing on the mark, took a couple of steps towards Houli to block the defender, who used his right forearm to fend the Cat away.

He went to ground but was up seconds later.

Miers was holding on to his neck afterwards but the contact appeared to be minimal.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian found there was insufficient forceful high contact to warrant a charge being laid.

Houli was rewarded with Virgin Australia All Australian selection for the first time in his career after a sublime season.

He is ranked No.5 for bounces per game in the competition and No.7 for average metres gained per game.

The 31-year-old racked up 32 disposals, 585m gained and a game-high 14 intercepts against the Cats and performed well when the Tigers were struggling in the opening half.
