Richmond stars Dustin Martin (interchange) and Alex Rance (full-back) have been selected in the 2016 All Australian team following the impressively high level of performance they both maintained throughout this season.

It’s the first time Martin has been named in the prestigious line-up, while Rance has received an All Australian blazer for the third year in-a-row.

The All-Australian selection panel, which comprises Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Mark Evans, Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea, announced the team’s make-up at a gala function held this evening.

Martin averaged 31.1 disposals and 12.6 contested possessions per match in season 2016, racking up a career-high 43 touches against Essendon in Round 17 at the MCG.

He had 30 disposals or more on 14 occasions, including 10 times in the last 11 games of the season.

The dynamic midfielder was ranked fourth in the competition for total disposals (684) and fifth for inside-50s (112).

Rance averaged 18.6 disposals and 7.8 marks per game in his 20 appearances throughout the 2016 season with the Tigers.

The brilliant key defender had 20 disposals or more eight times, with a season-high 26 touches, which he managed on three occasions.

Competition-wide, he was ranked fourth in total marks (155) and sixth for one-percenters (168).
