Monique Conti has been rewarded for another stellar AFLW performance by being voted best on ground by Richmond coach Ryan Ferguson and Carlton’s Daniel Harford.

Conti was at her industrious best against the Blues with 26 disposals and eight clearances, breaking through tackles and bursting the lines for the Tigers.

“I just try and go out there and get the ball forward for the team so that we can kick goals as a unit,” Conti told Richmond Media post-game.

“I think together we are linking up very well. Whoever is winning the ball it does not really matter. As long as Richmond is getting it, that is all that matters.”

The 21-year-old’s precision kicking inside 50 was a feature of her game, helping the likes of Katie Brennan (3 AFLCA Champion Player votes) and Courtney Wakefield (1) to impact the game as key forwards.

Ferguson said it was pleasing to see Brennan, who had 17 disposals and kicked two goals, hit the scoreboard.

“I like what she brought, energy and excitement. She is leading brilliantly at the moment; (and) she is driving all the stuff that we want to be as a team,” he said.

“It was good to see her hit the scoreboard and get some reward for her effort in that way, but I just love her as a leader and what she is doing for our group.”

Key defender Rebecca Miller also caught at least one of the coaches’ eye, polling two AFLCA Champion Player votes for her 10 disposals that included nine intercepts.

Miller also took three marks and went at 80 percent efficiency in what was arguably her best game at AFLW level.

AFL Coaches Association Champion Player votes are voted by each competing AFLW senior coach on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after every game.

Conti’s 23 votes have her placed seventh across the competition.
