Port Melbourne was handed just its second loss of the season by the Southern Saints, going down 4.4 (28) to 8.4 (52) at ETU Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-point defeat puts the Borough outside the top two for the first time this season. The win came off the back of three-goal first and third quarters from the Saints, putting the match out of Port’s reach. The Saints solidified their spot in the top six where they still sit a game clear of the seventh-placed Western Bulldogs.

The Saint’s Alice Burke continues to win plenty of the footy while applying pressure around the contest. This round was no different with Burke finishing with 20 disposals and 13 tackles, Tahlia Meyer and Lucy Burke were also good around the contest. Tara Bohana had two goals for the second week, and fellow forwards Kayla Ripari and Madison Capsalis also hit the scoreboard.

Young Borough defender Hannah McLaren was in her side’s best for her efforts in the backline, as was Maddy Brancatisano for her 17 disposals in the midfield. Vic Country Under 19 representative Jaide Anthony held her own in her first VFLW game, finishing with 10 disposals and four marks.

Port Melbourne VFLW will play Collingwood in Round 11 this Saturday at ETU Stadium (North Port Oval), Port Melbourne.
