Richard and Mary Burns have been devoted fans of Richmond Football Club for over 70 years, and have been instrumental in encouraging their family to support the Tigers. Richard, was born in Richmond in 1948, and has been a passionate Richmond supporter since.

The couple had 10 children, all of whom are also fans of the Club. From those 10 children, 16 grandchildren have been born who are now also proud supporters of the Tigers.

In celebration of their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary, Richard and Mary had a special request to “attend a Tigers football match”. Almost 30 members of their family travelled great distances from the NT, TAS, QLD and as far as Europe to attend the Round 4 game between Richmond and the Western Bulldogs on April 8.

One of the key highlights of the family’s journey as Richmond supporters was in 2017 when Richmond won their first Grand Final in over 30 years. The Burns family was overjoyed for the Club and celebrated alongside other Richmond faithful at Punt Road until the early hours of the morning.

Richmond Football Club is extremely grateful for the unwavering support of Richard and Mary Burns along with their extended family and congratulate them on reaching this incredible milestone.
