Richmond’s VWFL sides are continuing their dominant seasons in 2025, with the Championship Division team undefeated at the top of the table.
Meantime, the Community Division side is also first, with five wins and a loss to their name.
It's been a big second half of the season, with just a couple of rounds to go until the highly-anticipated finals run.
After the Club-wide Round 4 bye, both the Championship and Community teams have won their last three matches, as we head into another bye in Round 8.
VWFL Round 5 Results
Championship Division: Richmond 17.5 (107) defeated Essendon 13.6 (84)
Community Division: Richmond 10.10 (70) defeated Essendon 2.3 (15)
After a tight tussle in the opening term for the Championship side, Richmond overpowered Essendon to nab a 23-point victory. It was forward Chris Kotsanas who scored 14 of Richmond's 17 goals, notching up yet another strong outing for the top-of-the-table side.
Kotsanas, with teammates Judeland Antony and James Weinert, were named in the VWFL Championship team of the week.
Meantime, the Community team managed to keep Essendon goalless in the first half, while also piling on six goals of their own in a dominant display across the board.
John Secombe had four of Richmond's majors on the day, named in the league team of the week, alongside teammates Miranda Charlton, Bryant Parsons and Matt Morris.
VWFL Round 6 Results
Championship Division: Richmond 25.2 (152) defeated Hawthorn 12.3 (75)
Community Division: Richmond 16.5 (101) defeated Hawthorn 4.6 (30)
The Championship side held off a late firing Hawthorn side to claim another win. The high score from Richmond's end came courtesy of Chris Kotsanas yet again, who managed 15 of the side's 25 goals in the win.
Excitingly, Teisha Shadwell (centre) and Kotsanas (forward) were named in the Championship Round 6 team of the week.
In the Community Division, the Tigers cruised to victory over the Hawks, with another strong defensive effort that saw the opposition have just one goal to half time.
Bryant Parsons was dominant with seven of the side's 16 goals, being included in the league-wide team of the week, alongside teammates Matt Morris and John Secombe.
VWFL Round 7 Results
Championship Division: Richmond 16.4 (100) defeated St Kilda 14.8 (92)
Community Division: Richmond 17.5 (107) defeated St Kilda 3.5 (23)
The Championship side faced a genuine challenge when up against St Kilda, winning by just eight points.
The Saints got out to a hot start and took a seven point lead at the first break, before extending their lead to 31 points at half time. However, the Tigers kicked into gear and outscored the Saints in the second half, piling on 10 goals to three to nab the win.
Angelo Mavroudis scored eight of Richmond's goals in the Championship match.
As for the Community side, their defensive prowess reigned supreme again, holding St Kilda to just one goal to three quarter time in their massive victory.
In that win, John Secombe had nine of the 17 goals, while Mark Titford joined the party with four.
There are two games left for both the Championship and Community, against Collingwood and Essendon, before a huge finals series.
