Richmond's AFLW side had a successful intraclub match on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of next Friday's Match Simulation against Carlton.

It was a promising outing, with a plethora of players returning from injury to participate via managed minutes.

Issy Bacon kicked the first goal for the pink team to level the playing field early. Katie Brennan kicked one of black's opening period goals, with her side taking an eight-point lead at the first break.

Katelyn Cox, who is returning from her ACL injury, took part in the second period, in which recruit Paige Scott lit up in front of goal for the black team.

Maddie Shevlin got in on the action soon after Scott, booting black's fourth major, before Poppy Kelly got on the end of their side's fifth goal.

Lulu Beatty was prominent in her first outing for Richmond, confident across the backline for the black team, guided by the experience of Rebecca Miller and Gabby Seymour.

Shevlin refused to back down by the end of the second period, kicking her second after a clean snap delivered by Brennan, before Mackenzie Ford extended the margin with her goal.

Kate Dempsey patrolled through the middle in the second period for black, as they managed to extend their lead.

Key forward Caitlin Greiser pushed black away again in the third period, while Jodie Hicks resumed her spot in the backline for the black side.

Lauren Brazzale highlighted her speed across the match, while Monique Conti and Ellie McKenzie were trusty in and under the ball as usual.

Miller was swung forward late, kicking a goal for the pink side after taking an important mark directly in front.

Overall, it was a successful outing for the squad, who now look ahead to next week's Match Simulation against Carlton at Ikon Park, set for Friday 25 July at 5pm.

The following week, Richmond will take part in an official Practice Match against Hawthorn. Proceedings are scheduled on Sunday 3 August from 12pm at Ikon Park, with the team to be named the day before.
