Richmond ruck Poppy Kelly will bring up game 50 at IKON Park on Saturday afternoon, notching up an important milestone on her anything-but-conventional journey to the AFLW.
It wasn't until Kelly was 18 that football became an interest, with the 26-year-old occupied with basketball and surf lifesaving through her junior days.
But a keen interest in school football round robins peaked Kelly's interest to apply for the VFLW, where she landed with St Kilda, before being elevated onto their senior AFLW list.
Between 2020 and 2021, Kelly would go on to play six games with the Saints, before being traded to Richmond for the 2022 season.
The 184cm ruck said she felt instantly at home when entering the Swinburne Centre for the first time, now bringing up game 50, three years on.
This season, Kelly has continued to cement her spot in the senior side, with a season-high 21 hit-outs recorded against Brisbane in Round 7, as well as averaging a career-high 8.8 disposals this season.
Kelly will bring up her milestone alongside teammates Emelia Yassir and Laura McClelland, also playing 50 games on the weekend.
Richmond will host Gold Coast at IKON Park on Saturday from 3.05pm (AEDT). Tickets are on sale here.
