Richmond defender Campbell Gray has returned to training in impressive form ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Now entering his third season at the Club, Gray expressed his excitement to rejoin the playing group.
“It has been high energy, the boys are excited to be back, and there are a few new faces, which is good, so we are just bringing out as much as we can in these early days,” Gray told Richmond Media.
“I think just bringing energy before the older boys get back, I think we can really drive the standards because our list is majority of the younger boys, so if we can all bring up the standards, that’s what we are looking for.”
The 22-year-old made his AFL debut in the side’s Round 7 Anzac Day Eve clash against Melbourne and went on to play three senior games throughout the year.
However, his season was derailed by back-to-back knee injuries, forcing him to spend time on the sideline.
After a rehab block, Grey has returned feeling fit and confident, sharpening his game as he awaits his next opportunity.
“I think just getting back to a professional lifestyle and adjusting to that. I’m really trying to take on board as much information as possible and just learning,” Gray said.
“I got really comfortable out there in the few games that I got to play, but I’m just striving for more now.”
The rangy defender has committed his future to Tigerland, signing a new two-year deal that will run through to the end of 2027. Read more HERE.
Gray has drawn confidence from the trajectory of where the team is heading and is willing to become a significant contributor for years to come.
“I can’t wait for what’s to come and really work for the next two years and see what comes out of these off-seasons and hopefully put some good footy together,” Gray said.
“I think just streamlining it a bit and not focusing on too much, really trying to get the fundamentals down and simplify it.
“If I can do my role for the team, that is going to be the best-case scenario.”
