It’s exactly eight weeks today (Thursday, January 31) until Richmond launches its 2013 premiership season campaign against arch rival Carlton at the MCG.

The traditional Round 1 blockbuster will take place in the second week of an extended opening AFL round, on the Thursday night of March 28, which is the eve of Good Friday.

Adelaide and Essendon kick off the league season at AAMI Stadium on Friday, March 22, with a local Fremantle-West Coast derby to be played at Perth’s Patersons Stadium the following evening.

Richmond and Carlton have met in the past six opening rounds, with the Tigers winning just one – by 30 points back in 2008. That was the last time Richmond defeated its old foe at any time during the league season.

Be there when Richmond runs onto the 'G in their season opener against Carlton. Sign up as a Richmond member for season 2013.
