Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio and Daniel Jackson have been nominated by their Tigers teammates for the 2013 Be the Influence AFL Players Most Valuable Player Award.

The Leigh Matthews Trophy, proudly presented by Be the Influence, remains the only peer-voted award in the AFL industry and recognises qualities such as versatility, ability to perform under pressure, leadership and courage.

Trent Cotchin is one of the best midfielders in the league and the young star was a popular choice to take over the Richmond captaincy. He drew the attention of taggers in 2013, but fought through it admirably.

Deledio has been at the Tigers for almost 10 years now and was at his consistent best in 2013 alongside Cotchin in the midfield.

Jackson is another key cog in one of the best midfields in the competition. He is a hard worker, largely underrated by those outside of Tigerland.

Steven Morris is nominated for the Robert Rose Most Courageous Award, presented by presented by Fire Ready Victoria while Nick Vlastuin is in the running for the Best First Year Player, presented be Be the Influence

The MVP voting is a two-stage process; beginning with each player voting for the three teammates he considers to have been the most valuable this season.

Each club’s votes are then tallied to form a nomination list co mprising 54 players across the 18 teams.

In the second round of voting, all AFL players choose from the list of 51 nominees to determine who will be the MVP (they cannot vote for players from their own team in second round).

The 2013 Be The Influence AFL Players’ MVP Award Winners will be announced on Tuesday September, 10 at the Peninsula, Docklands.

Coverage of the night will be live on Fox Footy from 9.30PM.
