From Reece Conca’s perspective, it was always a question of when, rather than if, he’d sign a new contract with Richmond.

The talented young midfielder put pen to paper this week, committing to the Tigers for at least a further three seasons.

“I’m really happy,” Conca told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I just wanted to try and get it done as quickly as possible.

“It sort of dragged on a bit towards the end of the season, but as soon as footy finished, I just wanted to get it done.  So, I’m over the moon about it.”

Conca, who was Richmond’s first pick (No. 6 overall) in the 2010 AFL National Draft, had no qualms about re-signing with the Club.

“I obviously had the opportunity to come here when I first got drafted, and the way that we’ve progressed over the last three years, just proves to me that we’re going in the right direction,” he said.

“We’ve got such a talented group, really good coaching staff, and the Club, as a whole, just seems to be going in the right direction, and I really want to be a part of it.”

Conca is recovering well from the severe hamstring injury he suffered in the opening minutes of the elimination final clash with Carlton, and doesn’t anticipate any major interruption to his pre-season training.

“It’s going really good.  It’s about a week post-surgery now and I’m moving a lot better,” he said.

“At the moment, it’s a day-to-day thing.  Today I’m feeling better than I have all week.

“I’ll be back running, hopefully, in three or four weeks and I won’t miss too much of the pre-season, which is really good news.”
