AFL Fantasy

I’m hitting my straps in AFL Fantasy – 2007 this week!  It took me five rounds, but I’ve cracked the double ton.

You know I love a good forward line, and mine was a beauty this week! Patrick Dangerfield (149), Alex Fasolo (110) and Jack Riewoldt (105) were among my high scorers. As usual, the top scorers across the comp came from midfielders, with Ben McGlynn (153), Dangerfield, Dane Swan (145), Marc Murphy (141) and Steele Sidebottom (141) in the top five this week.

My best value pick so far would have to be Jared Polec (110 points in Rd 5 and 105 in Rd 4), who has gone up $48K in value this week – a very impressive jump. He was a top-ten draft pick and seems (much like Richo’s Racers) to be hitting his straps under a new coach at Port.

In the Richmond fan league, I have some ground to make up, with an overall rank of 21st. Laurie A has fallen off his perch to fourth, with Stephen L and his team “Massive Scorgasm” now in the lead.  Stephen had a dominant Round 5, with his 2318 points bumping his average right up. Well done Stephen. Not sure about that team name though mate.

Superboot

I have to say, I thought I was a genius when Jack Gunston kicked two goals in the first quarter of Monday’s game. I had visions of shooting to the top of the leaderboard off the back of his certain 10-goal performance, with ultimate bragging rights around the Richmond offices.

But we all know what happened – he stopped at three goals and I’ve slipped even further. I’m now in 78th place! I can’t believe it. I thought three goals was still pretty respectable.

The silver lining is that there are only 12 goals between myself and first place. So I need to time my wildcard right (to get double the goals), and put in good consistent performances from here on in.

For this week I’m thinking of either Travis Cloke against Essendon, or Matthew Pavlich against North Melbourne over in Perth.

I should say a big congratulations to “Nicholas K” from East Doncaster, who was the monthly winner for March. He’s scored himself $400, which isn’t too shabby. Make sure you jump on board so you’re in the running for the next monthly prize – click here.

Good luck for Round 6!
