Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has no concerns about his fitness levels, with the Tigers set to kick off season 2015 in less than two weeks.

Cotchin will play his first game in the AFL’s pre-season series, against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, after recovering from hamstring soreness.

But the triple Jack Dyer Medallist remains confident that he’ll be ready to go in the blockbuster opening round clash with Carlton at the MCG on April 2.

“The pre-season leading up to my little niggle was really consistent, the best I’ve had,” Cotchin said on afl.com.au’s ‘First Bounce’.

“I’ve felt the fittest I have been since I’ve been at the footy club . . . I’ve been able to carry out my running program, even though I’ve had a little bit of a hamstring problem, because it was more a kicking action, so just minimal kicks.”

Cotchin claimed his pre-season reflected that of the entire playing group at Tigerland . . .

“We’ve had a really positive pre-season,” he said.

“The process we’ve been going through this pre-season is living in the now and making sure that every session is your absolute best, and  everything we’re doing is to make us better going forward.

“You can only focus on the next opportunity you have to improve.

“We’re looking forward to this weekend’ clash against North as a real dress rehearsal for Round 1, and then take it as it comes from there.”
