The inclusion of several Richmond-listed 2014 draftees was not enough to get the VFL Tigers over the line in their second VFL practice match for 2015.

Collingwood, bolstered by the likes of AFL players Paul Seedsman, Patrick Karnezis and Darcy Moore, overran the youthful Tigers by 118 points at the ME Bank Centre on Thursday evening.

After a frenetic and hotly-contested spell during the first few minutes, the Tigers struggled to settle into the game, allowing the Magpies an opening lead which they were never able to surmount.

Despite the substantial loss, the game still provided glimpses of optimism for the VFL season ahead.

Reece McKenzie looked promising up forward, kicking both of Richmond’s goals and presenting strongly on the lead.

Corey Ellis also looked impressive around the contest and led the Club’s disposal and clearance count for the first half, before playing limited minutes toward the end of the game.

Shaun Hampson was also effective in the ruck. He had ten hitouts and three clearances to half time, before leaving the field with a leg injury.  His absence gave rookie draftee Ivan Soldo the opportunity to predominantly ruck the rest of the game.

James Wall, Devin McFarlane and Pat Contin also played respectable games, adding an element of much-needed composure at various stages throughout.

Richmond next pre-season hitout is scheduled for next Saturday, when they take on Essendon at the True Value Solar Centre.
