Emerging Richmond tall forward Ben Griffiths is recovering well from the calf injury that sidelined him last weekend and expects to be available for the Round 6 clash with North Melbourne in Hobart on Saturday.

Griffiths was coming off a career-high 10 marks against Brisbane in Round 3, when he hurt his calf in the second quarter of the Round 4 encounter with Melbourne.  He didn’t reappear after half-time and subsequently was ruled out of last Saturday’s nine-point loss to Geelong at the MCG.

But Griffiths’ calf has improved considerably in recent days, and he will be pushing strongly for selection this week.

“It’s feeling really good.  I ran this morning got through that, and pretty confident I’ll train early on Tuesday and hopefully play (against North Melbourne),” Griffiths said on ‘AFL Live’ pre-game last Saturday.

Griffiths started the 2015 season in impressive style, kicking seven goals in the opening four games of the season, before suffering his injury setback.

“It was good.  I sort of carried on the confidence I got from the latter part of last year and started to play some consistent footy . . .

“It’s extremely disappointing to get the little calf injury, but I’m really confident it’ll just be this week (he’ll be sidelined for)."
