Matthew Richardson, the idol of a generation of Richmond supporters, will be inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame at the gala Homecoming event to be held on Saturday, July 11 at the Plenary, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Richardson played 282 games and kicked 800 goals in a magnificent career with the Tigers from 1993-2009 after being recruited from Tasmanian club Devonport as a father-son selection in the 1992 National Draft.

He won Richmond’s leading goalkicker award a record 13 times, took out the Jack Dyer Medal in 2007, was a triple All-Australian representative, has kicked more goals at the MCG than any other player in league football history (464), and is second on the Tigers’ all-time goalkicking list behind Jack Titus.

Celebrate Matthew Richardson’s impending induction into the Richmond Hall of Fame by purchasing a limited edition, personally signed ‘Richo’ memorabilia piece from the Tigerland Superstore

‘Richo’ also is a member of the Richmond Team of the Century and, last year, was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

With his amazing athleticism, courage, superb marking prowess and all-round match-winning capabilities, Richo constantly thrilled the Tiger Army throughout his 16-year league career.

It’s doubtful if there has ever been a more popular Richmond player, with Tiger supporters loving Richo’s exciting playing style and his strong emotional connection to the Club.

Matthew Richardson will be one of four new inductees into the Tigers’ Hall of Fame at the Homecoming function.

Another major highlight of the evening will be the elevation of a current Hall of Fame member to ‘Immortal’ status – the highest individual honor at Richmond.

Currently there are five Tiger Immortals – Jack Dyer, Tommy Hafey, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke and Royce Hart.

Homecoming is the biggest event Richmond has ever staged, where it will pay tribute to the mighty history of one of the most powerful clubs in the competition.

Every former player has been invited to attend the event, and entertainment for the evening includes Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Sam Ludeman Band.

Tickets for the ‘Gold’ dinner have already sold out, however ‘Silver’ dinner tickets are still available.

Tickets for the exclusive pre-event Homecoming Cocktail Party have also been released, which includes an autograph session with current and former Richmond players.
