Richmond extends its deepest condolences to the Walsh family and the Adelaide Football Club, after the sad passing of Crows’ coach Phil Walsh today.

Walsh played 40 games for Richmond, over three seasons, from 1984-86.

He had close ties to a number of the Tigers’ current and former coaching and playing group, during his time as a player with Richmond and Collingwood, and as an assistant coach with Port Adelaide.

“We, along with the rest of the football community, were in shock with the news of Phil Walsh’s passing this morning,” said Richmond CEO Brendon Gale.

“At this sad time, we express our deepest sympathies to the Walsh family, and the Adelaide Football Club.

“Phil was an incredibly determined, passionate football person, and his loss will be felt across the entire competition.

“We will continue to offer support to those at Richmond who had a close relationship with Phil, as we attempt to comprehend this tragedy.”
