Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson, has provided an update into the official opening day of the AFL’s 2015 trade period, which involved the 18 league clubs meeting at Etihad Stadium to discuss potential player movements between now and Thursday week (October 22).

“We met with all the 17 other clubs, had some good discussions, and we’ll see where the week and a half goes from here,” Richardson told ‘Roar Vision’.

“A lot of the discussions with clubs had already been initiated a few weeks ago, so everyone’s got a fair idea where each other sit.

“But, in saying that, it’s worthwhile having an update today, as there are a few players that have re-signed and a few other things have happened in that time . . . Things move fairly quickly over this period.”

The Tigers have identified a couple of specific areas in the quest to bolster their playing stocks during this trade period.

“We think some rebound off half-back and some genuine speed is a priority, as is a bigger-bodied, taller, inside midfielder, with a bit of aggression, he said.

"So, they’re the two key needs that we’re going into trying to target this year.

“Obviously, last year, we decided to invest heavily in the draft. But certainly, this year, we’re hopeful of bringing in a couple of players, a little bit more mature, that can help us next year . . .

“We’ve got a bit of work to do to achieve those two key needs that we’re after, but we’re confident that we will.”
