Talented, young Richmond forward Ben Lennon has revealed there was never any doubt about him re-signing with the Tigers.

It was announced yesterday (Thursday) that Lennon had agreed to a new two-year deal at Tigerland, ending speculation he was considering a move to another league club.

“I suppose the longer it dragged out, the more people started to speculate. But, in my mind, I was always going to stay at Richmond,” Lennon told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I love the Club . . . get along really well with all the coaches and all the boys, in particular. So, really happy to be here, and can’t wait for the next two years.”

Lennon showed some extremely promising signs at the tail end of the 2015 season, playing the last eight home-and-away games, before being omitted for Richmond’s elimination final clash with North Melbourne.

Although he was disappointed not to be part of the Tigers’ elimination final line-up, he took plenty of positives out of his finish to the season.

“I was pretty pleased, playing those last eight games . . . Obviously, it would have been good to play the last game, but it’s going to hold me in good stead and make me a bit more determined to take on next year and, hopefully, hold a spot,” he said.

“I’ve spoken to a few people and a lot of players have missed out on finals games before and come back and played in other finals games and even played in Grand Finals.

“So, it’s not going to make me any less of a player, it’s only going to make me a better player, I think.

“I’m just really looking forward to next year.”
