Anthony Miles isn’t the type of character to take anything for granted.

So, although the tenacious ‘ball-magnet’ midfielder has had a significant impact throughout his first couple of seasons at Richmond, after being delisted by Greater Western Sydney, finishing fourth in last year’s Jack Dyer Medal, he doesn’t yet regard himself as a permanent member of the Tigers’ senior line-up.

“I’ve got some development to go, that’s for sure,” Miles said at the Tigers’ community camp in Albury.

“I still don’t feel I’ve solidified a spot in the Richmond 22, so I’d love to be able to play every game, and hopefully put us in a position to play good finals footy.”

Miles, who has averaged 23.9 disposals per game throughout his 36 appearances with Richmond, uses the Tigers’ captain Trent Cotchin as a role model.

“Learning off Trent in the midfield has been great for me, and I continue to learn off him,” he said. .

“He’s an outstanding professional in terms of his preparation and the way he trains.

“I’d like to think that my training standards since being at Richmond have certainly improved, and hopefully that’s reflected on how I’ve been playing.”
